Becoming Self Savvy
What do most people do to find a way forward?
1. Nothing
2. Talk To friends and Family
3. Copy a role model
Doing nothing or “muddling through” will keep you feeling stuck, unmotivated, unsuccessful, and unhappy.
Talking to friends and family can offer some insight and solace but if this solution worked in any sustainable way, we would not find ourselves having the same conversations repeatedly. The trouble with kindly meant advice is that it starts with…”If I were you…” But they are NOT you and what worked for them probably won’t work for you. They are just telling you how they “muddled through”.
Copying a role model can offer some useful pointers but once again you are applying their solutions to your life. They may have found solutions that work for them, but they have skills, knowledge, experience, resources, expectations, and problems that are not the same as yours.
